After analysing the graph on types of film that the general public typically enjoy watching from page 105, We have recognised that our chosen genre Romantic Comedy is well established, being the 7th highest out of 27, which shows it is popular with 37% of people saying that they enjoy this genre.
Analysing the graph in page 106 shows a full breakdown by demographics and market segments of who our chosen genre appeals to. our chosen genre romantic comedy most appeals to females under 35, with 61% enjoying romantic comedies. The next popular being females over the age of 35, followed by men over the age of 35 which means our primary audience is females under 35 and our secondary audience is women over the age of 35.
Looking at the graph of page 116 the percentage who rated romantic comedy as there favourite is 14%, which makes romantic comedy the 8th most popular. Although this seem pretty low, half of our genre is comedy which is the highest rated favourite, this give us an indication of what will appeal more to an audience.
This graph on page 20, tells us that females have the highest number of people that attend the cinema with 1168 of females watching films at the cinema in the last three months and only 1060 males, this suggests that our target audience is perfect as we are aiming towards females.
On page 123, it tells us the types of films that the general public would like to see more of in the future. Romantic comedy has 37% of people saying they would like to see more of these types types of films. This is a promising result as it means that a big percentage of the general public enjoy romantic comedies.
This screen shot of the top rated movies page from The Numbers tells us that the films in the top 8 recent releases has some aspects of romantics comedies. It also shows us a table of the all time top rated movies, the second, third and forth are all romantic comedies, which suggests we will have a big target audience that will enjoy our film.

This is a screen shot of top-grossing genres from 1995-2012. Romantic comedy is rated 6th out of 14 different genres. It also tells us that there has been 403 romantic comedies with 5.92% of the market share. This implies that there is a market for rom-coms, although comedy is the top rated genre for movies which suggests we need to put more comedy into our film opening than romance.
This is a screen shot from Box Office Mojo, It shows the latest top ten films that have recently been released in cinemas at the moment. Currently there is two comedy films in the top 10 which shows that there is still a market for our genre. Finding out all of this information has helped us to find out who we aiming our chosen film genre too. We have decided to aim our film opening to a primary audience of females aged between 12 and 35, including a secondary audience of females above 35. However, we will also aim our film opening to the male audience as a secondary audience in order to appeal a wider range of demographics.
